Interior decor trends aren’t just reserved for earthy tones. This year is also marked with a cultural identity of the Masai Mara tribe of Africa. This cultural enhancement is brought by Beyond Dream’s, Kuruka collection of bespoke furniture. The interior furniture and design studio, Beyond Dream, is a flourishing concept, Dream Furnishings. Beyond Dream is the brainchild of Avani and Akshay Khuarana, who took the business to new heights. Hence from providing design consultancy, to crafting luxury furniture, they gave a fresh path to the firm.
ABOUT THE KURUKA COLLECTION
The collection draws its inspiration from the ethnic Masai Mara in Kenya, Africa, which has been the childhood dream place for the founders. The entire modern decor collection is profoundly based on their memories and their deep understanding about the culture. The Swahili term, ‘Kuruka’ means, ‘to fly’ and metaphorically speaks of going back to indigenous roots for a design journey.
PRODUCTS OF KURUKA COLLECTION
The interior home collection hosts a range of products, each of which is a tranquil reflection of the interior designer’s simplicity. Further, it has an intimate connection with the place itself, and the ethnicity and nature that it has preserved since long. The collection is crafted with holistic and natural materials like concrete, wood and brass. It further extends to blend with earthy shades like browns, greens and beige. The motifs of the products come from Masai Mara’s traditional embroidery, jewelry, and sense of colors. Additionally, the raw beauty of the place is perfectly weaved with the furniture.
The furniture store decided not to name any of the products. Instead, they wanted customers to have their own insights, purpose and understanding of the furniture they purchase. Hence, they granted customers the freedom of thought and to follow what they feel is suitable for their interior space.
For example, the dining chair, made with teak wood and finished with American walnut open grain, can enhance every living room and spark a visual conversation. The gorgeously rounded side table is carved from a single stone and can be creatively utilized as the bar front.
Further, the lounge chairs and sofa are wrapped in a frame of comfort and wood polishes. Additionally, the upholstery enlightens the ellos of the Masai Mara, while the Terrazzo center table adorns the living space. Then, the dining console celebrates a handful of culture rich details.
Hence, each product is an identity in itself and exists independently even after being threaded with other furniture pieces.
All in all, the founders captured the African beauty of Masai Mara and exuded it with a sense of eccentric forms. The spontaneous collection is a revolution to the world and commemorates the cultures we often ignore.
