Hence they joined hands with Kengo Kuma, to blur the lines between fashion and architecture.

Fendi Men’s SS24 Show:

The breathtaking show is set in Fendi’s newly built factory. In Florence, you will find this in the Tuscan hills. Hence, the models walk through Maison’s production and manufacturing systems. The artisans, who construct 35-40% of the leather goods in the house, continue their work as the models walk past. The workwear collection features fashion inspired by architecture. Hence its theme matches perfectly with the environment.

Kengo Kuma’s Reinterpretation of Fendi through fashion inspired by Architecture:

Kengo Kuma leaves the audience with some interesting re-editions to rely on. Fendi is known for its bold and functional designs. On the other hand, Kengo Kuma has strong roots in ancient Japanese craftsmanship. Hence, Kengo Kuma has given architectural influence to Fendi’s Spring Collection.

For this, he redesigned three major Fendi products. This includes the Peekaboo bag, Baguette Soft Trunk, and Fendi Flow shoes. He has cleverly used materials like washi paper, woven bamboo, birch bark, and Tuscan olivewood. The Peekaboo bag was launched in 2009. This was done by iconic designer Silvia Venturini Fendi. The bag was crafted keeping simplicity at its core. Therefore, following the same principles, Kengo Kuma added fashion and architectural aesthetics to it. He gave the bag a basket-like shape with a gender-fluid design. The bag was redesigned using earthly materials and is a pioneer in sustainably.

Moving forward, the Baguette Soft Trunk is already a reinterpretation of the original baguette bag. The Baguette Soft Trunk is usually a rectangular leather bag with adjustable straps. Hence, the architect added some more elements to it. Kuma kept the product compact and intact. Wood chips, razor-sharp edges, and aesthetic beauty were all incorporated by him. All in all, the beige baguette is a fashion inspiration for the classics.

Lastly, redesigning the Fendi Flow Shoes is a brilliant step toward men’s fashion. This fashion inspired by architecture understands culture. Likewise, Japanese weaving called yatara ami is the pride of their artisans. This bamboo weaving technique includes random weaving on a firm base. Therefore, Kumo drew inspiration from the incredible weaving technique to design the Flow Shoes. Flowy lines and curves dominate the design. Moreover, 3D-printed threads are used to create a pattern similar to a yatra ami just above the sole. These threads are made with a poly-cotton knitted or warship upper. The latticework-inspired work combines the beauty of Italian and Japanese cultures.

Kengo Kuma and Fendi’s collaboration marks a milestone in history. Fashion inspired by architecture is a bold revolution. Hence, this move is ready to set fire to the world.
