Black has run the neutral aisle in Indian handbags for years now, the safe pick that goes with everything and says almost nothing. This season, chocolate brown is the one doing the talking, and Lavie’s new brown monogram collection is arriving right as that shift picks up pace, built around structured totes that read more considered than a basic everyday bag usually does.
Lavie’s Brown Monogram Collection Fits the Moment
Lavie is not a brand improvising its way into a trend. Founded in 2009 by Shobha Tainwala after handbags she designed for a family event turned into an unexpected hit. The label grew into an in-house venture under the Periwinkle Group, the same group behind Accessorize London and Samsonite’s India business, and now runs its own five-acre manufacturing facility outside Mumbai. That scale shows up in how deliberately this drop has been built.

Three bags carry it: Mono Melanie, Albany, and the LX Mono Combo Set, each working the same monogram language in slightly different registers.
The Unique Magic of Lavie
Mono Melanie is the structured tote of the three, a canvas monogram body finished in gold-tone hardware with a detachable mini pouch clipped to the front, priced at Rs 4,599. It is built for the bag-and-essentials-pouch habit a lot of women already have, just formalised into one purchase.
Albany takes a cleaner route: a black and brown tote with gold detailing and a detachable strap that swings between handheld and crossbody, priced at Rs 5,999, aimed at someone who wants one bag that covers a full day without a change of outfit.

The LX Mono Combo Set is the most literal expression of the trend. A brown monogram tote paired with a matching mini bag, priced at Rs 4,499. It is designed for anyone who has ever needed a smaller bag inside a bigger one and never found the two actually matched.
What ties the three together is restraint. Lavie’s monogram appears here in tonal browns, a quieter departure from the brand’s usual playful colourways. The effect feels closer to the considered canvas prints of European heritage houses than the louder, more-is-more approach often seen in the mass Indian handbag market—repeated, but never overworked; structured, yet with enough softness to slouch.
Lavie has spent the last few years widening what it is, adding a Lavie Luxe line with watches sitting alongside handbags, and building a celebrity roster that includes Anushka Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, and Malaika Arora. This collection takes a more grounded approach to that expansion, moving away from novelty and toward perfecting the bag most women instinctively reach for.
