Meaning enjoyment, comfort or ease, the word raku comes from the name of the lavish 16th-century Japanese palace – the Jurakudai – where this very particular style of ceramics using metals first became known.
ORVI’s Raku technique involves expert hand glazing, hand firing and rapidly cooling, using the same traditional techniques that have been followed for centuries. What one sees after the intensive process, is beautifully handcrafted surfaces in deep & intriguing colours and unpredictable patterns which makes room for a world of creativity with limitless possibilities. Available in an array of tonalities, Raku surfaces bring life, lustre, and a lavish individuality to any interiors.
