As the curator of art, Artix is back with its exquisite Hotel Art Fair. A signature style of its own, the fair takes on a beautiful character and is held in the room setting of a hotel. You’d be mesmerized, enchanted, and struck when those unbelievable artworks reflect in an interior space.
Artix has always been distinctive in its way. They are the ones to bring a Hotel Art Fair to India for the first time. And it all started with a whimsical journey. When Co-Founder, Payal Kapoor visited the Felix Art Fair at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, she was enthralled. There were artworks displayed along the poolside, in the cabanas, and showed an unconventional use of the space. She thought that now was the time for India to also have its own Hotel Art Fair. And that’s what led her to host one in 2023 and yet again in 2024. Diving into such an immersive art experience with exquisitely chosen works, this year’s fair was pure heaven.
The Fascinating Second Edition
As the year warms up, the second edition of Artix’s Hotel Art Fair acts like the perfect glass of cool mocktail. The Hotel Art Fair was first held at Hotel Taj Mahal Palace, New Delhi in 2023. Back then, it was a total hit with more than 20 art galleries participating with their finest works. From art connoisseurs to passing explorers, the interactive art exhibition appalled them all. And this year too, it aims to achieve the same. This year, the exhibition will take place spanning March 16–17, 2024, at Hotel The Park in Hyderabad. It will hold a convergence of artisans, textiles, weaves, tribal art, installations, and a bash of luxury.
A Hotel Art Fair would make you visualize an exuberant hall filled with marvelous creations. Yet, this one goes beyond the walls of an opulent hall. For the Hotel Art Fair, the beds are removed from the rooms. Further, these rooms are thus converted into havens for holding art exhibitions. So, rows and lines of rooms are emptied and adorned with the best from around the globe.
One of the major reasons this is done is to give the audience a glimpse of how the artwork looks in a real interior setting. Visitors make their way from one room to another, glancing at the unforgettable selectively curated pieces. The iconic second edition of the Hotel Art Fair is the brainchild of Payal Kapoor, Malvika Poddar, and Sethu Vaidyanathan. They envision amalgamating traditional and global art forms, to offer a platform for art enthusiasts. It opens doors for the ones who build and appreciate creativity.
The Opulent Hotel Art Fair
Hosted in such an ingenious way, this Hotel Art Fair was a true reflection of art and luxury collaborations. Standing in an intimate setting resulted in a creative hub where buyers and sellers could easily connect. For this, the Co-founder, Malvika Poddar believes, “It’s more intimate than usual art fairs where the eye does not get a break easily. The luxurious feel relaxes buyers and sellers.” Whereas, Mr. Sethu Vaidyanathan, one of the other Co-founders explains, “Artix 2.0 is more than just an event,” says Sethu Vaidyanathan. “It’s a manifestation of exquisitely selected artwork, live installations, and experiences that reshape the contours of the field of art and pave the way for an era in which artistic talent has no bounds.”
Artix aspires to keep hosting its Hotel Art Fair in several cities in the coming years. It envisions expanding to Bangalore, Kolkata, and throughout the country to help people explore the ultimate beauty of art at its best.
