How far can colors take you? Can they tap you with exuberant energies or pull you towards an imaginative cosmos? Or simply, fill your heart with a barrel of sweet feelings? Probably, colors can do it all in their power to evoke precious emotions with just a few strokes. Recognizing this quality of colors, the Exubia Studio re-designed the Cosmo Deli and Bistro Bar, a restaurant in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Exubia Studio hails from Chandigarh and is a design firm for architecture and interiors, with minimalism as their signature style, and creativity as their idiosyncrasy.
Cosmo Deli: Exubia Studio’s Chic Revamp in Solan
And on the other hand stands the Cosmo Deli, located in the picturesque city, of Solan in Himachal Pradesh. Solan is infamous for its quaint nature, with few tourists but unending waves of beauty. It is even the city of mushrooms, being its largest producer in the country. Counting on such a stunning environment, the restaurant Cosmo Deli and Bistro Bar, caters to the cosmopolitan audience of the city, savoring them with a delightful range of dishes. Such a vibrant space needs more than just a play of furniture, which was subtly eyed by the architects of Exubia Studio. For this project of giving the restaurant a new look, the architects of the studio faced an obstacle- none of them had been to Solan ever!
Hence their first step was to visit the city, wherein they observed and comprehended the culture, scenery, and inclinations of the population. Their imaginations were ignited after this trip and were directed towards a path of creating a space with vivid colors and atmosphere. The team decided to opt for a monochromatic scheme and divide the space into 3 parts, each washed with a particular color. The colors chosen were pastel shades to mingle with the tranquility of the city. Three colors: a fresh and active Mint, a graceful lavender-like Ocen, and an intriguing and playful Plum, were utilized in three sections. Each color was given one sector, and the colors were washed over every single element- from sofa to chairs, tables to floor, ceiling to even the lights- all were covered in the designated tint.
Remarkable Transformation
The entire room got a remarkable push- it felt as if entering into three worlds one by one, instilling us with the alluring energy they had. The room was given a final touch with a dash of flowers in minimal amounts to act as a supporting actor, not the protagonist. Cosmo Deli has a contemporary face with just the magic of colors, and for this project, the Exubia Studio is also one of the nominees for Building Of The Year, 2023. With the success of Cosmo Deli’s new look, the Exubia Studio has yet again played with its modest style of clicking on the silent power of simplicity.
