The Mirai Sofa is a Perfect Blend of Past and Future
One of the standout pieces from the collection is the Mirai sofa designed by Andrea Steidl. A perfect blend of past and future, Steidl gracefully demonstrated his inspiration from the powerful yet elegant architecture of the Apulian castles built during the Frederickian era of the 13th century. In the same way, Mirai sofa from Design Collection, depict the same strong, yet lightweight structure.
“Mirai” word holds the meaning future, same as it is the guiding principle inclining towards the future in the Design Collection, just like the ideas of Frederick II, a projection of the timeless culture of the entire Mediterranean as well as of ingenuity and innovation in the astonishing architectures in Apulia, with his inspirations from perennial beauty that only fleetingly arise from tradition but with foresight for tomorrow,” says Andrea Steidl.
Imagine a sofa that looks structured and solid, yet also feels plush and comfortable to sit on same reflected by, the Mirai sofa which showcases a unique duality, an architectural form balanced with a soft, inviting feel in the Design Collection. Through a clever optical illusion, the sofa’s lines appear to diverge before reuniting in a continuous. This play on lines creates a captivating, never-ending design that flows across the sofa. Interestingly, the mesmerizing pattern is reminiscent of a moving texture.
Steidl took apart the traditional idea of deconstructed comfort which makes a sofa comfortable place to rest on. Instead of a single, unified seat, he broke it down into separate pieces, which offers more flexibility and customization than a traditional sofa. These elements rest upon a sleek wooden structure, creating a play of light and volume and providing a sense of visual depth. The three main parts—the cushion, backrest, and armrest—combine in a pleasing way to offer both comfort and style.
