The Enticing Journey of Being a Woman Entrepreneur
Monika Choudhary’s journey began with a sparkling passion for design. She is an alumna of NIFT Delhi and achieved her postgraduate degree in sociology from Punjab University. Further, to create advanced learning pathways, the Woman Entrepreneur took an extensive education program at Wharton. This program is entirely focused on business management and people analytics. With a mind inclined towards creativity, Monika also has a strong attraction to photography.
And all of these ingenious skills fit perfectly into her working theme- heritage and sustainability. Her design intervention usually revolves around uplifting and bringing our rich culture into a new light. She travels to remote villages, gives extraordinary solutions to artisans, and promotes their lost crafts. The Woman Entrepreneur never fails to adhere to sustainable business practices in every venture she takes.
At Habitat Architects, she shapes the design language and makes it more human-centric. The firm focuses on providing architectural, interior, and urban services. And in all of these services, Monika’s creative escapades enhance the firm’s style.
Monika Choudhary With a Vision of Growth
The Woman Entrepreneur has only one motto imprinted in her heart- ‘Only change is constant’. This led her to make groundbreaking changes and leverage her career into the sky. Having a specialization in textiles, she has a close connection with indigenous art and crafts. Her remarkable paper, ‘Indigenous Textiles for Sustainability and Rural Upliftment’, revolves around the same concept. Hence each of her projects focuses on blending heritage with contemporary elements.
Monika advocated hand-spun and hand-woven textiles as a tool for sustainability at the United Nations in New York, in 2018. Furthermore, at Dubai Expo 2020, she promoted the same tools with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision and simple tactics. Through all this, her photography skills gave her the advantage of perfectly representing her words in pictures.
It’s her deep industry knowledge and experience that has paved her to win innumerable awards. She was presented with the prestigious Black Swan Award for Asia-wide women’s empowerment in the business sector in 2019. She was also invited to the CSW63 to promote hand-spun and hand-woven textiles at the United Nations in March 2019, in New York. The Woman Entrepreneur was also given a chance to give an ode to Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy on opening day. This further showcased three fashion lines at TERRA, the UAE Sustainability Pavillion. She was the Chairperson of FICCI FLO Punjab from 2017 to 2018 and Khadi Global Advisor FLO & Heritage Art Craft & Textile revivalist.
