Office areas are often fabricated with insipid elements of repetitive cubicles and bland desks, which surely shuns away any creative spark of the members. Hence, Priyanka Singh, the head of Chalk Studio, decided to wish a goodbye to such a dispassionate office culture to welcome a contemporary flamboyance.
Chalk Studio is an interior design firm, which composes and formulates spaces with functionality and aesthetics. Their office, located on the 20th floor of a complex in Gurgaon, resides in the heart of the city. Thus they constructed a space that can slice off the city’s humdrum aura, and dance as a studio for not just creating, but also innovating. The team had gone through an extensive period of design process coming up with two dozen iterations, Vaastu favored spacing, brainstorming sheets, penning notes, and finally gluing together all the ideas into appealing blueprints.
Walking into the office is like sprinting into a live book, jumping into chapters, and reaching breathtaking rooms with minimalism at its core.
The Minimalist Reception of Chalk Studio:
The welcoming reception hugs us around with fluted walls and Statuario marble flooring, while an in-house designed bespoke desk. A diptych art installation spreads out on the fluted surface and a White Domus wall sculpture pulls all the focus to its texture and beauty.
Playful Meeting Rooms:
The first meeting room houses a Neolithic round table, paired with suede upholstered Shearling chairs, which perfectly mingle with the cobalt ceiling. A 55-inch television and a physical mood board, enhance the boldness of the minimalist area. The second meeting room is like a new chapter encased in a square space, closed by the brass-finished glass partitions. This exclusive room is dedicated to quick and short interviews, supported by hidden storage. Unfolding the third meeting room is connotated with warm colors, and a central marble-topped table sets in subtly with the terracotta-colored Shearling chairs. Its mystical pocket doors lead to an intriguingly small space to take a break from a stressful day! The room is further bordered with bright crimson red consoles, surprising the eyes with a dash of pop shades.
The Graceful Cabin:
What should the cabin of the head designer look like? Innovative? Distinct? Probably, Chalk Studio has incorporated it all. Perforating rays of light, the head cabin is characterized by herringbone flooring by Inaaya Homes and a customized desk adorned with a Swirl Hatsu pendant. The desk’s backdrop is splashed with textures and brushed brass. One of the walls is embellished with monochrome printed dots, which take a full view when the partition door is shut.
An Energizing Workstation:
This is the area where people from different departments would join together to pour out their ingenious ideas. It is dominated by shades of gray and black luminaries to snap out all the monotony. A 12 seater table plushes in the center, while the Hatsu Comet wall sprinkles it with magical lights. There are further open-plan cabins, separated by a partition system, which are designated for the company’s officials. As observed, the office has an overpowering influence of partition doors, which comes from Studio 13, the architect’s office in Istanbul. Priyanka Singh, Chalk Studio Head, had the opportunity to visit this office, and amazed by its endless authenticity, she took a chance to inject it in Chalk Studio as well. And hence
Chalk Studio weaved its partition system with hues of pink and blue. The office further holds a library at the far end, to keep it away to refill knowledge in peace. Further, a coffee station, an open pantry, staff meal booth, all stand away from the meeting rooms, allowing the members to gain a fulfilling recharge. All in all, Chalk Studio has assembled all its caliber and adept elements to build an office that is extremely prolific, privy, and a source of inspiration for fresh spaces.
