Among some of the many spectacular and luxurious interiors projects completed by well-known Design Architect Pulin Shah; the one that is a shining example of scale, grandeur and luxurious interiors along with a contemporary edge is the Kolkata residence of his client Mr. Choudhary, the owner of Anmol Biscuits.
The Kolkata Grand Villa project size is 11,000 sq. ft. with really high ceilings that spell grandeur with their cornices and grand drop lights is truly mesmerizing. The challenge of this project was the designing of the high ceilings without moving the strong beams; as were planned to ensure that natural light came streaming into the residence and yet it gave the place a cozy and luxurious feeling.
Pulin wanted to create splendor as this project gave him the opportunity to do an expansive site that had really high ceilings in certain parts of the residence which are not always a possibility in City homes and high rises. He tackled the multiple beams that were also part of the architecture and design. The Dining had a really high ceiling and an informal adjoining foyer had a really low ceiling.
Pulin enjoyed not only designing and executing this site but also added elan, style and heightened luxury by using his favorite brands. He used exquisite marble and granite and fabulous drop lights as the Client wanted opulence and did not shy away from the ostentatious expense for art, rugs, curios and lights.
Pulin’s favorite decorative lighting is Italian – Iguzzini technical lighting which he enjoyed using. Furniture was another very important aspect of the styling, designing and comfort of the residence and he got to use his favorite Italian brands-Cattelan Italia, Visionnaire, ZB Bruno Zampa and Turri.
He made the space eclectic by using stylish and elegant pieces of furniture and curios from lovely and popular Indian brands as well. Sicis Glass mosaic, Gessi luxurious Tapware and Italian leather and marble were used extensively. The Italian marble brands are- Giallo Siena,Rosso Diaspro and Calacatta Vagli.

Pulin got custom made Rugs from Badohi in UP and really appreciates some well known Indian carpet brands. Exquisite and understated fabrics and furnishings were used from well known Indian brands of fine furnishings. Pulin has used excellent home automation for the drapes. The elegant curtains and sheers add a certain warmth and charm to the opulent site.
