Following the special exhibition 200 Years of Creativity, Vista Alegre pulls out all the stops for its 200th anniversary with another stunning collection that revives the brand’s rich decorative past with hand-painted porcelain and exquisite crystal craftsmanship.
Vista Alegre’s New Herança Collection
The Herança collection, launched globally, pays tribute to the brand’s long-standing dedication to quality, artistry, and tradition. The collection comprises 17 hand-painted porcelain pieces with timeless floral motifs. It draws inspiration from the brand’s early decorative work, particularly after the hiring of French master Victor Rousseau in 1835. Mr. Rousseau’s influence extended beyond technique, eventually playing a key role in shaping Vista Alegre’s aesthetic direction. Around the same time, founder José Ferreira Pinto Basto’s sons traveled to Sèvres, France, bringing back artistic and technical insights that enriched the brand’s design philosophy. These influences led to the adoption of intricate floral compositions, delicate garlands, and soft yet vibrant color palettes, which remain a hallmark of Vista Alegre’s craftsmanship.
Today, the Herança collection is a faithful continuation of that legacy. Each piece is meticulously painted by the brand’s skilled artisans, preserving the sensitivity and attention to detail that defined its historical works. Available exclusively on request, the collection reinforces the brand’s commitment to exclusivity and authenticity.
Crystal Elegance: The Perfect Pairing
The Herança collection extends to crystal, effortlessly pairing with the porcelain line. Inspired by historical designs housed in the Vista Alegre Museum, the crystal service exudes classic elegance. It features elaborate cutting, engraving, and gold hand-painting. The collection also incorporates intricate details such as a facet-cut bowl and a stem engraved with the Vista Alegre crown, elevating the artistry of fine crystal.
Founded in 1824, Vista Alegre has built a global reputation for its porcelain, crystal, and glass craftsmanship. In 2001, it merged with Grupo Atlantis, forming one of Europe’s largest tableware and giftware groups. Now part of Grupo Visabeira, the brand consistently earns international design awards.
Renowned artists and designers, including Christian Lacroix and Oscar de la Renta, have collaborated with Vista Alegre. In 2018, the European Commission honored Vista Alegre with the Regiostars award for its contributions to regional innovation and excellence.
