Innovating while remaining faithful to tradition and its roots has always been one of the Natuzzi cornerstones, which over the years has continued to experiment with shapes and technologies while maintaining the attention to detail and comfort typical of ‘Made in Italy’ craftsmanship.
With the same spirit, Fabio Novembre, in his first product design collaboration with Natuzzi, has created New Classic, modular upholstery that draws inspiration from the most classic of sofas – the Chester – reinterpreting it in an urban/contemporary tone. The starting point is a consideration made by Novembre himself: “The key elements that characterize a contemporary sofa are increasingly essential, and the public is required to have an extremely minimalist sensitivity to judge them. This is why there are so many classic models in homes all around the world. New Classic aims at getting these two philosophies closer to each other”.
Discover the Timeless Elegance of New Classic
The design keystone of New Classic is the harmonious intersection of round and square shapes, a set of volumes that overlap and combine to create a sofa with generous dimensions for welcoming moments of relaxation. From an aesthetic point of view, New Classic is characterized by a padded roller that delimits the entire upper section creating armrests and a backrest, while the square, minimal seats end in the base of the sofa, enriched on the sides with metal tubes.
The New Classic sofa also expresses its potential as a new contemporary icon in the covers: in addition to being available in leather and fabric versions, the sofa is characterized by a double covering that combines the two materials with a textile insert for the backrest/armrests and leather insert for the structure and seat. Finally, inspired by a classical touch of the traditional capitonné, the simple top stitching highlights the round shapes of the back and armrests.
Natuzzi X Fabio Novembre
The collaboration between Natuzzi and Fabio Novembre starts on this common ground, the work on the personality of the objects, on their ability to instantly evoke a world, a place, an imaginary. In this case Puglia, its unforgettable atmospheres, its timeless harmony.
For this new collection, Natuzzi involved eight designers – all with different design approaches and styles – to translate the identity of the brand: the relation with Apulia and its spirit, the elegance, the comfort, and the harmony. The aim was the creation of a design blend that could mix the vision, philosophy, and characteristics of each designer to create a perfect balance between ethics and aesthetics, style and function, and colors and materials.
This is the research behind the new Natuzzi Italia collection. Among the new products, are pieces by Claudio Bellini, Mauro Lipparini, Maurizio Manzoni, Paola Navone, and, for the first time, projects by Marcantonio and Fabio Novembre e Nika Zupanc. In addition, the new textile collection by the Dutch textile innovation studio BYBORRE.

This is how this collection came to life, with an invitation to eight contemporary design performers, and each one of them answered by bringing something, just like we do traditionally when we receive an invitation. Each one brought something personal, an interpretation of what the brand represents: Harmony. Inspired by Apulia and by the Mediterranean, by their harmonious equilibrium through which a model of beauty and lifestyle was built, they succeeded in interpreting that idea of Harmony in a new way”.
