Hence, the furniture brand, IKEA also took up this challenge to utilize solar power but in a more versatile and flexible environment. And what came out as a result is an incredible collection of solar powered lamps!
IKEA and Little Sun’s collaboration
Considering the auspicious ‘Earth Day’, IKEA India launched this collection in the nation on 21st April, 2023. Furthermore, the collection is proudly named as, SAMMANLÄNKAD and is a bright collaboration of IKEA with the social business, Little Suns.
THE DESIGN OF SAMMANLÄNKAD:
One of the major issues in design isn’t to find a solution, but to find an answer which is unconventional yet revolutionary. As a result, it isn’t simple for even IKEA to use solar power for indoor products. The collection’s lamp is a cordless beauty. It is circular in nature and constructed in a way as if it is protecting the nucleus, ie, the light source placed in the center.
The center is adorned with a semi sphere and a mirror attached to reflect its luminous property. Moreover, there are circular rings around the main light source, which are a metaphor to the earth’s revolution around the sun.
The lamp is supported with metal frames because of which, the lamp can be transformed to a table lamp or a hanging pendant. In addition to this, the lamp can be entirely removed from the stand and be used as a flashlight!
TYPES AND WORKING OF THE LAMP IN SAMMANLÄNKAD COLLECTION:
This earth’s collection embraces the need for alternatives to the fuel/electric energy. IKEA has two kinds of lamp in this collection:
The Table Lamp has a transforming mechanism and can be utilized as a pendant too, when needed. On the other hand, the Portable Lamp can be tucked into a backpack and is a go-to light source for any indoor or outdoor space. Both of them have powerful batteries and panels and get recharged under the exposure of daylight.
The table lamp can also be charged with a USB-A and USB-C ports in the absence of the dear sunrays. Consequently, the lamp also possesses the power to charge your smartphones. The SAMMANLÄNKAD lamps have a dynamic LED light source which can last for 25,000 hours with an acceptable heat temperature of 2700 Kelvin.
At the end of the day, the design is here to rule a new path. It has tactfully amalgamated with simplicity and beauty as well and are vital essentials for every work. SAMMANLÄNKAD too commemorates IKEA’s bold steps towards saving the world with the sun’s potentiality.
