Ekaya opened its first flagship store in Mumbai, the store is located in Kala Ghoda and launched with a special textile origami installation, a beloved hub of art and history, dotted with iconic buildings, museums and educational institutions. There couldn’t have been a more apt location for a brand so deeply rooted in the cultural practices of one of the world’s most ancient cities; so proud and passionate about empowering weavers who are trying to keep these practices alive.
Weaving Tradition and Modernity by Ekaya
Ekaya launched its latest womenswear collection “The Crossing” in-store. Sprawled across approx. 3,000 sq. ft., the new Mumbai store has been designed by Mr. Ambrish Arora of Studio Lotus, the creative mind behind all of Ekaya’s stores. Origami artist Ankon Mitra’s tissue silk chandelier is reminiscent of a swirling lehenga. It symbolises the easy elegance with which special fabrics can be incorporated in the fast-moving daily life of Mumbai – a source of happiness and playfulness, no matter how stressful or busy the schedule.

The brand’s founder and CEO Palak Shah told about the store. “We want our consumers in Mumbai to cherish their Ekaya pieces forever.” A gifting section celebrates the joy of sharing love, care and blessings through the profound act of presenting heirloom textiles – sometimes, on a milestone occasion; and sometimes, ‘just because.’ The Ekaya store team will be delighted to assist, so that you can make the perfect choice that will remain with your friends and family for a lifetime.
The brand also retails from its dedicated e-commerce store and participates in pop-up events such as with The Silk Route in Singapore and Mono in Kolkata.
