The power and beauty of the woman – the core theme of DOMNA armchair by YAKUSHA presented at the Collectible 2020 in Paris Design Week. DOMNA is a design reminiscence of an ancient ceramic sculpture of the Trypillian goddess. Standing out with its mild feminine forms and curves.
DOMNA is an embodiment of Mother Earth. She gives life and protects.“DOMNA is my manifest of Ukrainian modern female design with a strong connection to our cultural roots. It continues our studio’s philosophy of live design. We reinterpret cultural symbols.
The main construction material for Trypillian people was clay. They made clay utensils, sculptures of Venus, and even houses. There was a stove in every Trypillian house. “DOMNA” is the old word for a “stove”. She embodies the warmth of a home. Made to serve as its amulet, protector, that fills a home with live spirit. At Paris Design Week, DOMNA armchair is presented in the color of clay, but the design piece could be produced in every color of nature. Inspired by her cultural roots, furniture and decor FAINA by YAKUSHA combines contemporary sustainable approach and mysterious relations of our ancestors with nature.
