PELLE introduces “Pop Goes The Bubble ” a collection celebrating 11 years of the studio’s first and best-known design, the Bubble Chandelier, with 11 unique pop-inspired editions. First conceived 11 years ago, the Bubble Chandelier has since grown to encompass a line of 11 standard types that range in size and composition including Small, Large, Wreath, Pendant, and Supra, among others.
“Pop Goes The Bubble” celebrates the Bubble Chandelier’s longevity and popularity, incorporating pop art and pop culture references into 11 unique pieces. The collection includes one of each standard type reimagined with a different pop-inspired design, nodding to mass produced objects like sneakers and confetti, ubiquitous and enduring patterns like leopard and camouflage, and iconic works by the likes of Yves Klein.
The sudio practice integrates artistic exploration with architectural integrity to offer an original collection of hand produced, professionally refined pieces. Driven by an exploration of new ideas, PELLE’s collections of lighting, furniture, and objects are continually expanding into different materials and areas of design.
Located in Manhattan’s Flatiron district, the PELLE studio currently comprises a lighting fabrication studio, a research and prototyping studio, and a dedicated showroom to display finished pieces. The intimate studio space is structured to support creative experimentation and active making, continually evolving in pursuit of new materials, methods, and ideas. Led by Jean and Oliver, the small studio team handcrafts each piece to order.
They have received numerous design awards and distinctions over the years. These include ‘Best Lighting’ at The International Contemporary Furniture Fair – ICFF in 2018 in addition to being named ‘Best Young Americans’ by Wallpaper*. The studio has exhibited as part of Collective Design Fair 2017, Salone del Mobile 2017, Tent London/Super Brands 2015, Wallpaper* Handmade 2016, and New York’s Museum of Modern Art – MoMA in 2011.
