Molteni group-associated company Unifor is thrilled to introduce itself as a technical partner of Creative Installation, “Listening All Night to the Rain”, created by John Akomfrah, an Anglo-Ghanaian artist at the British Pavilion for the 60th Venice Biennale Arte 2024.
The Venice Biennale Arte Curated On Theme of “Stranieri Ovunque”
For the first time, the Venice Biennale Arte was curated by an Italian American curator, under the theme of “Stranieri Ovunque” – Foreigners Everywhere. The title is inspired by the works of the Claire Fontaine collective: neon sculptures of various colours bearing the words “Stranieri Ovunque” in different languages.
The Venice Biennale Arte will run from April 20 to November 24. The theme celebrates the foreigner, the distant, the outsider, the queer, and the indigenous. The installation created by the Artist and filmmaker John Akomfrah at Venice Biennale Arte is based on the theme of memory, migration, racial injustice, and climate change, titled “Listening All Night to the Rain”. It is a creative demonstration where non-linear narrative and collage formats have been used for the demonstration of art’s ability to reimagine history in unexpected ways.
This format of art demonstration at Biennale Arte carries eight interconnected multi-screen works, which gives an extraordinary experience of the British pavilion, under the rays of new light.
Explores “Listening All Night To The Rain” Through Sonic Experience
The title “Listening All Night to the Rain” alludes to the important role of sound, in Venice Biennale Arte 2024. Interestingly, the projected sound of the installation is not merely confined to background sound only, instead, it also counts as a powerful element in the shaping of the experience.
The term “acoustemology” has been used for the soundscape of art installations, which suggests the study of sound. It also reflects the connection to knowledge and experience which have been practised in the establishment at Venice Biennale Arte.
According to Akomfrah, listening attentively is a form of activism, and he showcased the same in his theme, where soundscape revisited the concept of memory and memorial. The theme worked over an ideology of looking into the present through the lens of the past. A concept which makes us reminiscent of our former but also gives us a platform and perspective to question our present.
The collaboration of Unifor with this stunning Art project at Venice Biennale Arte represents their commitment to the temporary installation sector as well as their key role as a promoter of cultural heritage. Additionally, their history of collaboration with leading architects, designers, and artists at prestigious venues exemplifies their true dedication and devotion to artistic Innovation and expression.
All in all, take in the alluring beauty of the creative installation “Listening All Night to the Rain” at the Venice Biennale Arte and delve into the beauty of artistic expression that is enhanced by experience and knowledge of the depth of emotions. Join a journey that is enriched with creativity and knowledge expression, and elevate your artistic experience.
