Sculpting is a magical concept of giving life to an ethereal thing and making it last forever. Following the same path, the New-York based Sculpture Artist, Norman Mooney has incorporated the sole art of sculpting, into his recent installation, Windseeds, unveiling it at the Brooklyn Garden, from 16th November 2022 to 8th January 2023.
The installation, standing strongly in the lush gardens, comprises 3 structures of 12ft, 10ft, and 8ft, respectively, representing and drawing inspiration from the wish-like dandelions. Each sculpture consists of almost 80 angular spikes peeping out from its core, a convex polyhedron as if seeming to burst and spread out to fulfill a million dreams. The spikes are rounded at the edges to make them blunt and harmless.
Created out of stainless steel and white pigment, the structure’s simplicity of lines and dots is profoundly given weight, a new life, which in turn shows Artist Mooney’s clear understanding of shapes and creativity. The pattern, balanced work, and astonishing scale remain his signature style even in this delicate art.

Windseeds, in reality, stand as a homage to Mooney’s early drawing named, ‘Smoke’ and the exquisite choice of dandelions reflects his sensitivity towards nature. Norman Mooney has stoned many solo exhibitions like The Butterfly Effect, What Happens Today Will Last Forever, and In Sight, and his art revolves around mediums like steel, smoke, glass, and resin.
Mooney usually designs sculptures, interior and exterior installations, drawings, and paper works, and in each of his art pieces, he carries the power to indulge people in connecting their inner selves to the world around them and finding their being in the surroundings. In the same way, Windseeds also fabricates a place for people to awe and ponder and to search for themselves in them. This installation reminds us about his physical and metaphysical skills and flows us towards a sense of peace and hope.
