The iconic Fazzoletto vase attended Italy’s recent red exhibition. The “Red in Italy – The Colors of Red in Italian Design” is an exhibition the Campari Group promotes. Additionally, it represents the vital contribution of 20th and 21st-century designers. The Fazzoletto Vase glimmered in Palazzo Piacentini, where the exhibition was held.

Palazzo Piacentini is the headquarters of the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy. Therefore, the building holds historical and cultural significance.

How did the exhibition begin?

The journey of this legendary exhibition began in 2019. That year in Brussels, the event was held to promote Made in Italy with the support of Red.
Pantone red is an inseparable part of Italian design trends. Furthermore, the color has close ties to Italian culture and design. Thus, the exhibition portrays the breathtaking works of designers in the 20th and 21st centuries. Likewise, only red products are showcased to pay homage to the color’s vitality. Thus, Venini displayed its red Fazzoletto Vase in line with the concept. The gorgeous modern vase is not an easy one to construct.

What is special about Venini’s Fazzoletto Vase?

The vase centerpiece was designed in 1948 by Fulvio Bianconi and Paolo Venini. ‘Fazzoletto’ translates to ‘handkerchief’. Likewise, the name of the glass vase is a reflection of its structure. The Fazzoletto vase has a whimsical, fluttering shape similar to a flowing handkerchief. The glass vase gets its shape through the ‘Flying Hand technique’.

Thus, the skillful hands of a master glassmaker create the folds. Its drapery-like appearance depicts blown glass’s endless possibilities. The vase design technique also varied with time, yet its beauty remains intact. Therefore, it is right to consider this sparkling red Fazzoletto vase as a symbol of Venini.

Founded in 1921 by Paolo Venini, Venini is one of the oldest Venetian glass masters. The founder craved glass’s authentic charm. Hence, originality was maintained from the latest Italian design trends to age-old glass techniques. The brand truly explained why vase is an art and kept its legacy alive.

Therefore, the presence of the Fazzoletto Vase among the others was a clever move for the exhibition. Red in Italy – The Colors of Red in Italian Design” is more than an exhibition. It is the story of how Italian design trends ruled the world. It depicts the passion of civilizations and Italy’s cultural description.
