The beauty of the brand, Stone Art, doesn’t lie in its sculptures and fountains- it instead resides in the owners, who with changing generations, kept improving and expanding the brand’s contours. With their new collection of Zellige Fountains, Stone brand has proved to be versatile and intricate.
Since the era of the Rajputs, Rajasthan has been infamous for its extensive stone carving, done with utmost precision, especially the jaali work. Carrying on this same legacy of unmatched carvings, Stone Art established itself to produce outdoor furniture like benches, bird baths, and even abstract sculptures, fireplaces, bass relief work, architectural stone work, and so much more. Founded in 1987 by Shri Jai Prakash Bansal, in partnership with his forefather M/s Pyare Lal Basheshswar Nath. Further it was taken by his son Brijesh Bansal and later Ashutosh Bansal, both of whom pulled incredible changes to the brand, pushing it to go beyond the country’s borders and people’s hearts.
Their latest Zellige collection is a breathtaking assortment. Zellige or Zellij, as they say, is a mosaic tilework, built from exquisite hand-chiseled glazed terracotta tiles, handmade from Morocco, which are then tessellated together to form a masterpiece. It’s a skilled artwork as the tiles are firstly fabricated using clay and water, then molded by hand, and kiln-fired using olive wood. The outcome represents the heart of Islamic architecture- geometric patterns, blending together in a fresh wave of colors and designs.
