The duo had envisioned the upliftment of high-end fashion labels and designers in the country. “80% of India’s key designers from Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, Manish Malhotra, Anamika Khanna, and Gaurav Gupta, to more recently Kshitij Jalori, 431-88 and Karan Torani have all been launched by Ensemble,” says Tina Tahiliani Parikh, co-founder and executive director of Ensemble. It wasn’t easy to build a brand back then that could support luxury. Yet, after all, they are here, carrying the unending trail of haute fashion.

As you walk inside, a GI screen renders a seamless background to the jaw-dropping garments. The concrete terrazzo carries a luxury of its own – the optimum utilization of a rustic aesthetic. The lounge walls are adorned with Ensemble’s favorites – Meher Jesia and Shyamolie Verma. This 90s pop style lands it in one of the most stunning interior spaces.

Ahmedabad’s pols have intricate wooden carvings, not forgetting the famous ‘Chabutro’. And bringing this carving to life again was the main motto. Aria, Tina Tahiliani Parikh’s daughter, and the store merchandiser have a deep connection with the heritage city. Being married to an Amdavadi family, she was subjected to the classic Kansa thalis, Banswara marble, brass, and galvanized iron detailing, and the welcoming neighborhood. It gave her a glimpse of Ahmedabad’s soft and tasteful culture. Hence, incorporating these timeless style elements rhythmed the Multi-Designer Store right with the city’s heartbeat. From Banswara marble shelves with subtle brass mesh to wooden furniture, the store is like walking into a contemporary yet evergreen version of Ahmedabad.
